Kids spend a lot of time on the floor playing with toys, playing board games, and just playing around! That is why I wanted to find a soft area rug for them to play on. Well, that is part of the reason. My other motivation is that area rugs do so much to soften a space up and add to the beauty and warmth of a room. I am happy to partner with FLOR carpet tiles squares. They are hypoallergenic with a low emission of VOC’s and they are made with renewable and recycled content. I was excited to try these eco-friendly carpet tiles and I am happy to say they did provide me with FLOR carpet tiles squares in order to facilitate to my review. I received no monetary compensation and the opinions expressed are my own.
FLOR Carpet Tiles
First I want to tell you a bit about FLOR Carpet Tiles Squares so you can know what makes them unique and how they work. Then I want to tell you about the FLOR carpet designs and my reading room/ toy room makeover.
What are FLOR Tiles?
FLOR carpet tiles squares are unique because they don’t stick to the floor- they stick to each other. You just use the provided FLOR dots to make them adhere to each other at each corner where they meet. That way you don’t have to worry about harming your existing floor. You will love this innovative system of carpet squares because you can use them to create custom rugs, runners, or wall to wall designs. They are 20- inch squares with endless design possibilities.
FLOR tiles can be used in the living room or dining room or any room really! You can use the FLOR carpet design squares to make FLOR rugs or for wall-to-wall installation. This little video gives you a good visual introduction to what they are and how to install Flor Carpet Tiles:
Beautiful Carpet Tiles
They come in all different colors! FLOR Carpet makes some of the most eye-catching, beautiful carpet tiles I have ever seen. You can go bold with bright colored carpet tiles or muted with more classic choices. You can choose solid colors or fun patterns. There are lots of choices that will turn your room into a whole new space!
If you can’t choose from between all the different patterns, you can always get some sample tiles to see which ones match your current decor the best.
There is a square for everyone. They also have a line of soft carpet tiles called In The Deep. Shag has become a stylish, modern standard and FLOR Tiles come in so many varieties.
Carpet Tile Ideas & Designs
Here are some carpet tile ideas to consider:
- Patterned Layouts: Combine different colors or patterns to create unique designs, such as herringbone, checkerboard, or geometric patterns. This can add a dynamic look to any room.
- Monochromatic Tones: Choose carpet tiles in varying shades of the same color to create a subtle gradient effect. This works well in minimalist spaces.
- Zoning: Use carpet tiles to define different areas in an open-plan space. For example, you could use darker tiles for a seating area and lighter ones for a dining space.
- Mix Textures: Combine plush and low-pile tiles to add texture and depth to the floor. This can also create visual interest while maintaining a cohesive look.
- Custom Shapes: Instead of traditional square tiles, consider hexagonal or other shapes for a modern, creative twist.
- Border Effects: Create a border around the room with a different color or pattern. This can give the room a framed, finished appearance.
You can arrange (and rearrange) your carpet tiles in fun designs and in fun shapes. Rotating every other tile can completely change the look of your rug and give you a quick makeover! You can work around odd shaped rooms or rooms with unusual dimensions. Another cool carpet tile design idea is to mix patterns for a striking look. Carpet tile pattern ideas can be as simple as two types of tile alternating every other tile and get more complex from there.
Carpet Tile Squares Are Practical And Versatile
FLOR Carpet Tiles Squares are both practical and versatile. On the practical level, they are super duper easy to install. I just ordered my carpet tiles squares and they arrived in box. I opened the box, laid out the squares and used the included stickers to adhere them together all in a few minutes. Easy peasy and I didn’t have to wait for any installation crew or try to fit a rug into my car.
Also on the practical side of things, they are stain resistant and ready to stand up to pets and kids. On top of that, if there is a bad spill, you can pick up that tile and bring it to the sink and wash it out! How about that? Pretty cool right! And if for some reason the square tiles are beyond repair, you can just replace the damaged sections. I love that. Extra tiles are perfect for replacing a high traffic area.
Then, on top of that, the carpet tile squares are versatile so you can change the look (by rotating tiles) or the size by adding tiles. The carpet tiles offer a scalable design system that works best for you and your space.
Eco Carpet Squares
FLOR Carpet Tiles Squares are responsible. FLOR Carpet uses renewable and recycled raw materials to make the carpet squares and they are have low VOC emission. Random fact: When FLOR learned that discarded fishing nets damage our ecosystem for centuries as they degrade, they partnered with Aquafil to repurpose nylon from many sources, including these recovered fishing nets! If someday, you have worn your FLOR out, you can send it back to be recycled. FLOR carpet tiles are truly an eco-friendly carpet choice. Plus, they are made in the USA!
So now you know why I chose FLOR carpet tiles for my makeover! Here’s what I picked and how it looks.
My Toy Room FLOR Makeover
I absolutely loved having a toy room for my kids to play in but as they have gotten a bit older, I have begun to give away some toys to Good Will and take a corner of the room for me as a reading corner. I wanted an area rug that would be colorful and fun for them as a toy room rug and one that looked sophisticated enough for when I complete the toy removal and turn into a sitting room. FLOR offered the perfect modular carpet tiles for this- Floweret, in scarlet. I love the color and I love the pattern. It is stylish enough for my reading corner and the pattern will help stand up to the kids high traffic.
I chose the FLOR carpet tiles in a 3×4 tile arrangement which comes out to a 5×7 foot rug. It is perfect for right now and later when I remove that big train table that is now a piano table, I will have more room and I can add another row of tiles to make my area rug larger (without having to replace it). I love that versatility.
Flor Carpet Tiles Review
I just laid the carpet tiles out like I wanted them and then I used the FLOR sticker adhesive dot to bind them together. The FLOR Dot stickers are marked with lines to help you line up the four tiles on a square and they are easy to pull apart if you want a redo. After 2 hours the adhesive strengthens for a tighter bond. The adhesive squares don’t stick to the floor. The back of the carpet tiles is a non slip surface and they are marked with arrows so you can easily keep the design going the same way or alternate if you prefer.
I think the FLOR carpet tiles make the room so much more inviting and my kids are more comfortable playing on the floor than ever before. It is a nice thick rug and it feels great under foot. I am loving the whole new look the FLOR rug gives to the toy room. Now I want them for my kids rooms.
FLOR is dedicated to offering customers the option to create their own designs using FLOR’s modular carpet tiles. Or, to keep things easy FLOR offers beautifully pre-designed rugs for the busy mommies and mommy-to-be’s. You can learn more and order at flor.com.
Have you ever considered carpet tiles squares for your flooring? Now that you know about FLOR carpet tiles, do you think you will? I’d love to know what project you would use them for and/or your favorite carpet tile patterns!
