Spring is here!! Well, not officially. It’s still about 2 weeks away but the weather here is definitely Spring-like. It’s warm, rainy and everything is starting to bloom. This Painted Pasta Flower Art Craft for Kids is a really fun activity to get children excited about all the colorful flowers that will be popping up really soon. It’s a painting craft which my children love. The kids will love this hands on craft and you parents will too especially since there are no scissors or other sharp objects required. This flower art and craft for preschool-aged children gets them engaged with 3D art.

Fun and Easy Pasta Art And Craft Flowers

Doing an art craft with preschoolers is a fantastic activity because it promotes creativity, fine motor skill development, and cognitive growth. Art lets preschoolers express themselves in ways they might not be able to verbally. It encourages them to explore colors, textures, and shapes and to think imaginatively. Crafts provide a non-verbal outlet for children to express their feelings. They can create art that reflects their mood or helps them work through emotions in a healthy way.

Art And Craft Supplies Needed For This Pasta Flower Craft:

  • Pasta Noodles (Use what you have. Any type of noodle will be fine! These are wide egg noodles.)
  • Acrylic Paints or Finger Paints
  • Paintbrush
  • Glue (If you are using a heavier noodle, you might need hot glue or rubber cement)
  • White Construction Paper

How To Make Pasta Flower Arts And Crafts:

This Pasta Art Tutorial provides step by step directions with photographs. This pasta flowers art and craft is part art because it is painting and results in wall art but also craft because it is 3D and they get feel like they are making something as they glue down the pasta “flower petals”.

Grab all your supplies and head to a table (probably near a sink because you will more than likely need to rinse paint off of your hands/your children’s hands during the craft). You may also want to lay down some newspaper to protect your work surface.

Start by painting the stems of your flowers. Young children can use a paintbrush or just go with the finger painting idea! My young kids chose the latter. They love to get messy and being involved in arts and crafts in a tactile way.

Once your child has painted the stems, set that paper aside to dry. Grab some pasta noodles, place them on a paper towel or separate piece of construction paper and start painting.

Your child is the artist here! They can paint them all the same color or tie die or even all different colors! So many options to let their creativity shine. Once your noodles are painted, they’ll need a few minutes to dry. We went back and chose the very first ones that were painted because they had the longest to sit there and dry. Start gluing your noodles and placing them at the top of the stem. The painted noodles are the petals of your flower.

Once your child is done gluing the pasta petals on their art craft, let the glue dry before picking up the flower art craft sheet!

Conclusion On How To Craft With Pasta

Pasta noodles make a fun 3D element for your arts and crafts project that are super inexpensive but that kids will love experimenting with. This fun flower art and craft will look great displayed on their bedroom wall or on your refrigerator. Older kids can also paint grass and butterflies or bees to make the spring season come to life on the paper.

Has your child ever done a craft using pasta before? This fun and colorful flower art craft for kids is sure to be a hit with your littles ones. Give this a try the next time your child is wanting to do a craft! Share your pics of your child’s pasta flower art and craft for preschool @familyfocusblog!

They may also want to do a spring flower garland craft to explore the flower theme further.
