Spread The Holiday Cheer With This Festive Candy Cane Activity
I loved the idea of spreading Christmas cheer in this way- small surprises are always fun to give and receive! How To Spread Holiday Cheer: Step by Step Instructions
First, you will need to gather your craft supplies:
- BIC Mark-It™ permanent markers
- scissors
- ribbon or twine
- hole punch
- paper
- candy canes
- ruler
I used a ruler and Midnight Navy BIC permanent marker to divide my paper up into several rectangles that I would use for labels. You can do any size you want really.
Then I cut out the rectangles and cut little triangles off of two sides to make it a fun shape label. I traced my paper label edges in Midnight Navy BIC permanent marker to create a border. Then I thought of cheerful holiday season sayings to share. I listed some cute messages you can use for your candy cane gift tags below.

I used the markers to draw them onto each label.
Then I used my hole punch to create a hole to loop the ribbon through.
I used twine to tie the labels to the candy canes. I used about 16″ to make a bow and about 6″ to just make a tie. You can make a few of each for variety.
Then when my candy canes were ready, my preschoolers and I hit the cul de sac and hung a few on neighborhood mailboxes. It was fun to spread the holiday cheer! I plan on sending sending a few extras into my children’s teachers tomorrow too!
