The holidays are meant to be enjoyed with friends and family.  So go ahead and invite over some guests!  Everything doesn’t have to be perfect.  Use these simple holiday party planning tips to make sure everything goes smoothly. Here’s how to throw a party and enjoy yourself no matter what your budget is.

5 Holiday Party Planning Tips For A Good Time

Party Planning Tips

It is always fun to have guests over for the holidays.  I love a good holiday party but there is a lot of planning that goes on behind the scenes!  A lot to think of, remember, and prepare before guests arrive.  Here are a few holiday party planning tips to help you stay on track, be prepared, and have fun.

1.  Make a list of people you want to invite.

Go over the list with your partner to make sure you didn’t accidentally forget someone!  Then send out invites.  You can use these free printable invitations or a service like evite.

2.  Make a to do list.

Make a list of all things that need to get done for the party.  Here are a few ideas to get you going:

  • Clean the dining room, living room, and bathrooms
  • Clean other common areas where guests will have access
  • Decorate
  • Create a music playlist
  • Create a menu plan (including drink options). Here are some party recipes to consider.
  • Shop
  • Cook
  • Ensure you have enough plates, glasses, cutlery, ice
  • Ensure trash cans and recycling bins are available and empty
  • Stock the bathrooms
  • Have a plan for where to put coats and prepare the area

3.  Assign duties.

Recruit some helpers and give everyone a task because there is sure to be more than enough for one person to do.

4.  Make a shopping list.

Make a very thorough shopping list.  Include all your ingredients for food items and drink items.  Also include all your preparation items if you need things for cleaning and serving.  Add decorations items you may want to pick up to your list. And don’t forget items to stock your guest bathrooms with like lots of extra toilet paper and soap.

5. Have fun.

Now that you have done your preparation, get out there and greet those guests and have fun! That is what parties are for. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Happy Holidays!
