It is a California coast vacation all by itself. We absolutely loved it. With a resort like the Hyatt in Huntington Beach, Ca., you could never leave the property and still have an amazing vacation! Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach, California Resort Vacation
Huntington Beach vacations are a pretty posh way to enjoy family time at a gorgeous California beach. Looking for Huntington Beach resorts for families? Located on the coast of Southern California (just below Los Angeles), Huntington Beach offers 10 miles of uninterrupted beaches. The Hyatt Huntington Beach Resort has a great spot overlooking the wide sandy beach with views of the iconic Huntington Beach Pier and direct beach access via a short walk over the pedestrian bridge. As far as beachfront Hyatt hotels go, this one is a stunner even for their high standards. It is a great stopping point for those enjoying the scenic Pacific Coast Highway.
The Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort makes a stunning impression with its contemporary, Spanish-style architecture, it lush grounds, and the sparkling views of the Pacific Ocean. Though the design is very welcoming and intimate, it is actually a huge Huntington Beach hotel with 517 guest rooms, including 3 Presidential suites and three ocean-view ballrooms, meeting rooms, outdoor function spaces, and plenty of event space. This location is popular among Huntington Beach weekend resorts because of its gorgeous water front location. This Spanish-inspired hotel is even a popular staycation resort in Huntington Beach because it is just a great place to get away for some pampering.
Upon walking into the lobby, you be greeted by lavish interior design, huge tropical bouquets and inviting views of the landscaped grounds and sunny beach.
The rooms will not disappoint either with their lovely design and fabulous private balcony/patio area that offer amazing views.
You may be tempted to lengthen your stay already. Just wait, there is so much more to this California resort vacation!
Things To Do At Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach
Pool Time
They have lots of great pool areas. If you are enjoying some kid-free time, you will want to make use of the heated salt water Mankota’s Pool Lagoon and the Spa Grottos, a series of three exotic spa pools tucked in amongst tropical vegetation and rocky outcrops. This lagoon-style pool is really a fun extra special element.
If you are with the whole family, you will enjoy the Slyders Water Playground. The swimming pool has three slides, nine cabanas, bar and cafe, pool, hot tub and children’s wading pool. There was a life guard on duty when I was there and we got s’mores packages to roast over the fire pits. My daughter could have spent the entire vacation on the water slides and I could have spent mine in the hot tub but there is more fun stuff to do!
Beach Time
On your California coast vacation, you will want to relax on the beach. It is a really wide sandy beach so there is plenty of space to spread out. There are plenty of waves to play in and shells to sort through. When the sun goes down, you can even enjoy a beach bonfire in one of the many fire pits right on the beach. The Hyatt Huntington Beach concierge staff can arrange all the details for you.
Surfing
Huntington Beach is nicknamed Surf City USA because of it’s world-class surfing beaches.
Never surfed before? No worries. You can get surfing lessons from the best through Toes on the Nose, Adventure Hyatt Store. My 11 year old daughter and I had so much fun. Our instructors were amazing my daughter was a natural. I loved learning to surf too but I got cold and tired eventually where as my daughter could have surfed until it was dark. I would say to every guest, go for it! Surfing in Huntington Beach is a memory you want to have! So worth it.
Biking
Toes on the Nose, Adventure Hyatt Store has tons of great bike rentals available so you can enjoy some exhilarating biking and views all at the same time.
Camp Hyatt® Activities For Kids
Take advantage of activities for the kids, including arts & crafts, and pool fun at Camp Hyatt while you slip away for some time at the spa or shopping.
Pacific Waters Spa
No California resort vacation would be complete without a trip to the spa! The Pacific Waters Spa is a luxurious experience with beautiful design, dry sauna, steam rooms, men’s and women’s lounges with whirlpools, waterfall showers, and rejuvenating salon services.
Game Zone Arcade
There is a small arcade that the kids may want to enjoy after the sun goes down.
StayFitTM Fitness Center
For those of you that can’t miss a day at the gym, don’t worry. The Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach offers a state-of-the-art fitness center featuring the latest cardio and weight training equipment.
Shopping
You can even go for a shopping trip without leaving the Hyatt. The retail plaza offers unique shops and boutiques with really nice stuff! There is even a coffee shop and gourmet grocer.
And all of that is on the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach grounds. You can also venture out into downtown Huntington Beach itself for more shopping, entertainment, arts, music, and night life. Visit surfcityusa.com for more details on all that Huntington Beach offers.
Places To Eat At Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach
You have 6 dining choices at the Hyatt Huntington Beach.
- Watertable: Contemporary
- Pete’s Sunset Grille: Casual, cocktails
- Mankota’s: Poolside casual (seasonal)
- Tower 15: Pizzeria (seasonal)
- Shubee’s: Poolside casual (seasonal)
- Room Service
I was able to try a few of these options during my brief stay. My daughter and I munched on some good eats from Shubee’s while we lounged pool side in Slyders Water Playground. She got the capese salad and I got the tuna sandwich both were very good.
Pete’s Sunset Grille
We had dinner at Pete’s Sunset Grille where we tried an array of appetizers. Pete’s menu features speciality dishes from surf destinations around the world and it has some really creative and unusual offerings. I enjoyed everything I tried. I do have to give you a heads up that my daughter considered the popcorn shrimp to be too spicy. They do have vegetarian, gluten free, and dairy free options marked on the menu.
Watertable
We had breakfast/brunch at the Watertable and it was very good. Don’t miss it! They had a huge buffet with really fresh, amazing choices- not just your run of the mill buffet. I considered the buffet because it all looked so good but I decided on the Crab Hash Benedict, which was delicious. I also got to try a bite of someone’s Zesty Lemon-Blueberry Pancakes and I loved them. My daughter loved her Nutella Waffle. Watertable capitalizes on the region’s local produce and creates amazing contemporary comfort food.
