Jovial Einkorn Pasta Review

Everyday it’s time to celebrate your good health, which starts with nutritious cooking. I am all about cooking fresh, wholesome food for my family. I was very intrigued when I was introduced to a highly nutritious vegan, gluten free penne pasta from Jovial Foods. This organic pasta is made from an heirloom grain, einkorn wheat.  I was provided with Jovial Einkorn Pasta in order to facilitate my review.

Nutrient Dense Einkorn Pasta

Einkorn Pasta

What is einkorn pasta?

Turns out, Einkorn is nature’s original species of whole wheat, first cultivated nearly 12,000 years ago. Considered even healthier than modern whole wheat, ancient einkorn grains are inherently more nutritious –you truly can feel good about eating this pasta. Which is great because my kids LOVE pasta!

“With Jovial Einkorn Pasta’s naturally occurring high protein (9 grams per serving), nutrient, mineral, vitamin and antioxidant content, a 2-ounce serving of einkorn pasta outperforms “superfoods” including the raw blueberry, in its nutritional value. What’s more, einkorn also is a healthy source of dietary fiber, zinc, iron, and the antioxidant Lutein, making the pasta a nutritional powerhouse and ideal for vegan diets.”

Jovial Organic Whole Wheat Einkorn Pasta Review

Jovial Foods is based in Italy and works with a small number of organic farms in rural areas of the country to grow 100% certified organic einkorn. Jovial also works with artisan Italian pasta makers to handcraft pasta in the old world way.  I was very pleased to get to try the Whole Grain Einkorn Penne Pasta.  Although Whole Grain Einkorn is a healthy source of dietary fiber, it does not have a grainy or gritty texture.

My husband who is Italian, turned up his nose when he saw that I was cooking a whole wheat pasta because he never likes it when I do but for the first time ever, even he liked the whole wheat variety!  That is breaking news folks!  Of course, my kids and I liked it as I suspected they would because we like healthy foods and they love all pasta!  I also appreciated that Jovial Foods even used sustainable packaging- it is packaged in a carton made from 80% recycled cardboard and is 100% recyclable. The window is certified 100% compostable, made from FSC certified wood pulp.  Jovial Whole Grain Einkorn Pasta is a real treat and I really want to try some of their other offerings now!

I was provided with the pasta in the hopes that I would share my honest opinions.  I received no monetary compensation and the opinions expressed are my own.
