Erika Wassall, the Jersey Farm Scribe here, with a quick craft that makes a GREAT DIY gift. It is so easy to learn how to make a Mason Jar Sap Dispenser and it makes cute decor for your bathrooms. They these soap pumps are very functional and easy to refill with bulk liquid soap.
Ball Mason Jar Soap Dispenser DIY
In order to make this homemade mason jar soap dispenser, you only need a few things.
Supplies:
What do you need? Simply, a mason jar (with top), a drill and some liquid hand soap. I got my soap from the dollar store.
How do you make a Mason jar soap dispenser?
Step one:
Pull out the pump from the plastic soap dispenser. Get an estimate of the width of that bottom circular part (the part that goes INSIDE the soap container).
Step two:
Drill a hole in the mason jar top and either continue to drill larger holes until the hole is big enough, or cut the top with tin snips. You want it to be snug, because then you won’t even need glue!
Step three:
Push the soap pump through (snipping the soap tube with scissors if the mason jar is shorter).
If you did the hole just right, you won’t even need glue. If the hole is a bit loose, no worries. Just secure it with a bit of hot glue.
Step four:
Fill the mason jar with liquid hand soap and plunk the top on!! It is that easy! Your mason jar soap pump is now ready to use!
Extra Mason Jar Dispenser Ideas
- Spray paint the jar tops a copper color for an antique look. Or black or silver- whatever matches your bathroom decor.
- Decorate or paint the mason jar itself.
- Pick nicely colored soaps, and mix with a bulk white cream colored soap for a more subtle color. You can even make your own liquid hand soap for refill time.
- Bonus: You can make extra lids with the drilled hole in the center and use those to put straws in. I call them mason jar sippy cups. They aren’t as sturdy or as spill proof as a real sippy cup but they are kid-friendly for young kids that want a real cup but still knock it over on occasion.
I made about four of these mason jar soap dispensers in the course of about 25 minutes. They went SO fast I forgot to continue to take pictures, and they were snatched up by neighbors JUST as quickly. They would make a great gift for anyone with a country farmhouse decor theme to their house.
If you prefer, you can buy a mason jar soap pump and skip the DIY work but it is much more cost effective to do it yourself!
I’ll be making more soon for my kitchen and bathroom! Where will you put your mason jar soap dispensers? Or who will you give your mason jar soap dispensers to?
