In the spring time and summer, I just love salads. They make the perfect lighter, cooler dinner option for the warmer months. This steak salad is a tasty creation that keeps my steak loving husband happy and my salad loving daughter happy. This Mojito Grilled Steak Salad recipe was shared by Food Network’s Jamika Pessoa with Home & Family host Cristina Ferrare (the show airs weekdays at 10 am ET/PT on the Hallmark Channel). I was given permission to share this delicious restaurant-quality salad with you here.

Serves two people.

Ingredients for Grilled Steak Salad

  • 1 Mojito (2 Tbsp. fresh chopped mint, 2 Tbsp. sugar, 2 oz. white rum, 1 lime, juiced, 2 oz. soda)
  • 1 (8-10 oz.) lean sirloin steak (flank steak or skirt steak also work well if you let marinate for an extra hour and slice on the bias before you serve)
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 head of Romaine lettuce, washed and chopped
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, seeded, sliced
  • ½ red onion, sliced
  • 2 ears fresh corn, washed, husks removed
  • 8-10 cherry tomatoes, halved

Ingredients for Dressing

  • 2 tablespoons chopped mint
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon white distilled vinegar
  • juice of one lime
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • a pinch of black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

How To Make Grilled Steak Salad:

1) In a small bowl, whisk Mojito and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Pour over steak and marinate for 20-30 minutes

2) Remove from marinade and pat the steak dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Season both sides of steak with salt and pepper. Heat the grill to high heat (around 450-550°F). Place the steak on the hot grill grates and sear for 2-3 minutes per side to create a nice crust. If your grill has two heat zones, move the steak to the cooler side to finish cooking. Chef recommends medium rare 130-135°F or medium 135-140°F. Once cooked, set steak aside to rest for 5-10 minutes on a cutting board. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender and flavorful steak.

3) Lightly drizzle corn, onion, bell pepper, and mango with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place on grill (aluminum foil optional) for 2-3 minutes until slightly charred. Remove from grill. Cut corn off cob and dice vegetables. Set aside to cool.

4) Whisk dressing ingredients in a bowl or pulse in a blender or food processor until well mixed. Assemble salad in a large bowl or on a large platter or use individual serving bowls. Toss salad greens in dressing. Thinly slice steak on a cutting board and arrange over salad. Serve immediately.

If you are looking for grilled steak salad recipes, this hearty salad will satisfy beef lovers and veggie lovers alike! It is a relatively easy dinner that guests are sure to love. I like to add some feta cheese or goat cheese crumbles (personal preference).

This is the best steak salad recipe. This restaurant-quality salad made a delicious meal and all approved. I love the little bit of smoky flavor from grilling the steak. That is my favorite salad dressing too.
