How To Host A Football Party

Whether you are a die hard football fan or you just like to socialize, football parties are fun! Today, I am going to share with you some tips for how to host a football party. This football watch party discussion is brought to you by CVS. I was provided with many items from the CVS exclusive Gold Emblem food and snack line so that I could share them when hosting my football watching party. Opinions expressed are my own.

Tips To Host A Football Watch Party

football watch party

It’s the perfect time of year for you and some friends and family to get together and enjoy a football party.  While most people, including my husband, enjoy hanging out and watching the big game together, I love football parties just for the food and company!  Anyway, it was high time we threw a party at our house so when CVS pharmacy offered to provide exclusive Gold Emblem drinks and snacks for our football party, I said, “Let’s do this thing!”

Select Your Football Party Guests

Select your guests.  Now this is trickier than it sounds.  First you should consider your target number of party goers.  I was thinking around 15 would be good so we invited around 20.  About 30 people showed up because we kept inviting people that we had left out!  It is hard to stop inviting once you get started:)

Invite Your Football Watch Party Guests

The more formal the party, the more notice you should give.  I like to send out invites about 2 weeks out but let’s face it, there is no set limit and if you invite me to a football party tomorrow, I’ll still show up!  How to invite your guests?  Well you can use the phone, email, or an invite system such as Facebook groups or evite.com– whatever works for you!

Prepare To Host A Football Party

Clean

Ahh- they are coming!  Now it is time to clean.  I planned to give each room a through cleaning and do one room a day but the toy room got totally neglected because I figured no one would notice or care (and they didn’t.)  You should, of course, focus on your main party rooms and the bathrooms.  Don’t do just your guest bathroom because you know that there will be multiple people wanting to go at once.  This time of year, you may also want to consider where your guests will put their coats and get that area cleaned up and ready too.  You may also need to rearrange furniture to provide enough seating.

Shop

It is also time to shop!  Plan your food and snack menu.  You want to consider having a variety of snacks, sweets, and food to please your guests.  You may want to have some lighter options like popcorn and some more filling protein packed snacks like nuts.   Plan your drink options- be sure to think of adults and kids and again provide variety.  Make sure you have serving supplies on hand- you will need plenty of plates and it is a good idea to have large and small available.  If you are using plastic cups, have a Sharpie on hand to label people’s cups so they don’t get mixed up. Don’t forget get supplies like toilet paper and soap for the halftime bathroom break!

My son planned ahead for our football party by reserving his seat near the snacks!  Kids are so funny.

Reserve your seat by the snacks

CVS provided a handy dandy checklist and I found it useful to review before the party to make sure that I hadn’t overlooked anything.

Sometimes a checklist is just what I need to help me visualize everything that needs to be done and help put me at ease that I have done everything I needed to do.

As you can tell, we had fans representing the Seahawks and the 49ers.  It is always fun to have people cheering for both sides!  Who were you cheering for? You may want to invite guests to sign up for fantasy football before hand so you can compare scores too!

Have Fun!

Now that you have planned your football watch party, sit back and enjoy your company, snacks, and of course, maybe the football too!  I hope you find these tips helpful for how to host a football party. Share your pics @familyfocusblog!
