Here is a fun idea- an inflatable kayak! This is such a great idea because it makes water fun affordable and accessible for so many more people. A blow up kayak means that you don’t have to have a special vehicle to transport it to and from the lake, river, or ocean. The fact that the kayak is collapsible not only allows it to transport easily, but also to store easily. Valwix provided me with a 2 Person Inflatable Kayak for Adults in order to facilitate review. I tested it out with my family and share my experience below.
Benefits Of An Inflatable Kayak
Inflatable kayaks can be a great choice for several reasons:
- Portability: They are easy to transport and store, as they can be deflated and packed into a small bag or box, making them ideal for travel and storage in small spaces.
- Affordability: Inflatable kayaks are often more affordable than hard-shell kayaks, making them a great option for beginners or those on a budget.
- Durability: While they may not be as rugged as hard-shell kayaks, modern inflatable kayaks are made from tough materials that can withstand punctures and abrasions, making them durable enough for most recreational uses.
- Easy to Use: They are typically easy to inflate and deflate, requiring no special tools or equipment, and can be set up and ready to use in a matter of minutes.
- Versatility: Inflatable kayaks can be used in a variety of water conditions, from calm lakes to whitewater rapids, and are suitable for fishing, touring, and recreational paddling.

Inflatable Kayak Tandem Valwix Review
Are you looking for the best inflatable kayak for calm waters? The Valwix Safari Inflatable Kayak may be just what you have in mind. Unlike a traditional kayak, you don’t need a special roof mount on your car or a truck to transport it. Just grab the carrying bag with the inflatable kayak and throw it in your trunk or back seat. This is so convenient and enables anyone to drive around with a kayak! However, I would suggest replacing the included thin carry bag with a more sturdy duffle bag that will hold up to your outdoor adventures. Make sure the carry bag has shoulder straps to make it easier to transport.
We took the inflatable kayak over to a nearby lazy river that is fairly shallow with gentle currents for the first time out. Because this section of the river is so mild, we planned to paddle up stream and float back down to our starting point.
When dealing with inflatable boats, it is nice to have multiple air chambers. This makes inflating each section easier and helps to ensure that if you have any problem with one section developing a leak, there are back up air chambers working for you. The Valwix blow up kayak features 3 air chambers with Boston valves. All you do is roll out the deflated kayak so that it is flat over the smoothest area you can find on the bank. Then use you use the included hand pump to inflate the kayak. That takes about 10 minutes.
While my husband was doing that, I assembled the paddles by locking the pins in place. The open cockpit features two inflatable seats that are removable seats. It has easy setup and easy inflation. I just blew the seats up with my mouth while he hand pumped the boat. The seats have large velcro strips that attach them to the bottom of the boat and the seat backs have clips that attach to the sides of the boat so you can lean back against the seats. Then you just grab the carry handles on the kayak and carry it into the water.
The kayak makes such a fun way to be in the water but also lifted above the water. We got great views of all the wildlife and were able to spot Blue Herons as we rounded bends on the river. We also saw lots of aquatic turtles sunning themselves on floating logs and even spotted some fish swimming by us. It was such a lovely way to enjoy the good weather.
I plan to take this two-person kayak out to Percy Priest Lake next! I love that when you are done with your water adventures the kayak is collapsible for easy storage in your trunk and/or garage.
What To Wear Kayaking
What to wear kayaking depends on the time of year and the body of water you will be exploring. However, a life jacket is always recommended for children and for adults if you will be in water over waist deep. If the weather is warm and the body of water is sufficiently warm, a bathing suit, sunscreen, and water shoes are just what you need. If the weather is slightly chilly and/or the body of water is frigid, you may need an actual wet suit to help keep your body temperature up.
