The VW Tiguan is not exactly a brand new Volkswagen SUV, but it has been totally redesigned to offer outstanding technology and spaciousness while keeping the hallmark Volkswagen driving dynamics they are known for. I just got back from attending the 2018 Volkswagen Media Drive. Here is the full scoop before most people get to see or dive this new Volkswagen SUV. I was able to drive the Tiguan through some mountainous Colorado terrain and on some dirt roads as well as ride in the passenger seat for part of the journey. Here is my 2018 VW Tiguan Review with you here.
I was invited to attend the 2018 Volkswagen Media Drive. I did not receive any monetary compensation and the opinions expressed in this 2018 VW Tiguan Review are my own.
2018 Tiguan Review
VW is becoming a full-line, family focused automaker so they are really hitting the SUV market with bang. They just introduced the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas as their midsize SUV and it has already been ranked #1 in Midsize SUVs by U.S. News & World Report. The 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan is their compact SUV and I think it will make a huge splash as well. It has been completely redesigned and engineered for the American market. They know we Americans love our space so it is a full 10.6 inches longer than the current model with up to 58% more cargo space!
Compact SUV With third Row Seating
Even though it is compact SUV, third-row seating does come standard on certain trims and optional across the lineup. I think this is a super feature for keeping your family car versatile because you never know when there is an extra friend over and you need that extra seating. I do think the third row is a bit cramped and so I would suggest the Atlas to those that regularly have over 5 passengers. But if you have a family of 4 like I do, and you only need those extra seats for other children on occasion, the 2018 Tiguan just might be perfect for you.

My 2018 VW Tiguan Review Conclusions:
I was able to drive the Tiguan through the city of Denver to get a feel for how it handled in city driving and I was also able to drive it on dirt roads and around curvy mountain roads. It felt great- responsive, sporty, and safe. My VW Tiguan review is that it makes a great family car for small families that like to have the flexibility to carry extra passengers when need be. It has lots of great safety features, especially on higher trim models, and it can also have a luxurious, sporty feel that Dad will dig too. Very nice work, VW!
