The cold season has been upon us for awhile and most of us are so sick of it already. (Pun intended!) I know that I have plenty of first hand advice to give on how to ease a cough this cold season and reduce cold symptoms.
My mom was the best at making me feel better when I was sick and now having been a mother myself for almost ten years, I have lots of experience helping to ease a cough and make it through cold season. Somehow, being a mom makes you think of and do things for others that you don’t always think of doing for yourself! Thanks to Chloraseptic for sponsoring these tips for cold symptom relief. All opinions expressed are my own.
How To Ease A Cough
Use a Humidifier
Yes, humidifiers really do work wonders, especially during cold season when the home heater is really drying out the air in your home. This is one of those tricks that I had heard of but never bothered to try for myself. As a mommy, I rushed right out and got one for my kids the first time a nurse suggested it. Boy, am I glad I did. It really helps their breathing and now I always use it for myself too. If you put the humidifier the bedroom and walk in there after letting it go for awhile, you will feel the difference! It is so much easier breathing with the humidifier and the relief is so wonderful.
Get Some Rest
This one seems like a no brainer but we are all so busy that we often forget to slow day and rest. The immune system needs sleep to help fight your cold. Take a nap and let your body do some healing while you rest!
Drink Water
Drinking lots of water is really important to helping your cough and easing all your cold symptoms. Water is important for staying hydrated, functioning properly, and cleaning out toxins. Drinking lots of water will also help prevent your mucus from getting thicker and more congested.
Chicken Soup
It is not just your mama that believe chicken soup is good for colds! Web MD also says that Chicken Soup will help ease your cold symptoms. Not only does it keep your body full of some good nutrition, the warmth will help will help make your throat feel better and ease congestion.
