Shopping for a baby shower gift? Well, if the parents have a baby registry then your job is probably pretty easy. Starting with the baby registry means that you don’t have to rack your brains about what baby gifts the expectant parents might need and they get something you know they wanted! Sometimes, however, the parents haven’t registered, or you don’t know where, or all the items are gone. This is when these baby shower gift basket ideas will come in handy!  Any combination of these items will make the perfect baby shower gift basket that expectant parents may not have thought of but that they will need and love!

How To Make Baby Shower Gift Baskets

The five baby shower gifts listed below are great items to include in a DIY baby shower gift basket. Take your favorite ideas and arrange them in a nice basket for a beautiful gift presentation.

First, you can use some crumbled brown paper bags at the bottom of the basket for filler. Then cover that with a layer of pretty tissue paper in the right shade to match your theme or create a unified gift basket look.

Place larger items in the center. Next, you can roll baby towels, baby blankets, and baby onesies to look like roses and arrange those around the wooden baby toys or baby board books. You can in some faux foliage as an optional extra touch.

You can gift like that or wrap in cellophane if it will be traveling and need help staying in tact.

Tie a bow or decorations on the top of the basket handle (or side handles) and it is all set to gift!

5 DIY Baby Shower Basket Ideas

These baby shower gift ideas will fit nicely into a basket and make a stunning gift. New parents will appreciate that these baby shower gift baskets are cute, fun, and functional.

Baby Toys

Personalized and/or wooden baby toys make a fantastic gift. I remember when I made my registry, I didn’t think far enough ahead for toys. However, a few nice quality wooden ones can be so meaningful when they reach that stage and you have a special infant toy handy. There is something about natural wooden products make them so much more appealing to children and grown ups alike. A plush toy is also a good choice. My daughter still has a stuffed animal she received as a baby shower gift.

Hooded Baby Towel

This one is sure to be a winner!  I loved the hooded baby towels for keeping my baby’s head warm and dry but because they make such cute fun varieties that just look adorable and make for cute photos.  The fancier toddler ones have paws and such as well.  My 5 year old is still having a hard time giving his up (it was a froggie hooded towel from the Pottery Barn).

Amazing machines board books

Baby Board Books

Baby Board books are another item that may not be on their registry but they will be glad they got.  I loved reading to my babies and they seemed to enjoy the rhythm and sound of reading too way before they could speak.  My daughter would stop crying and listen to “Way Out in the Desert” board book and my son loved the ones by Usborne with the tactile pages.

Soft Sole Baby Shoes

This is another item that I never even thought of while registering but which is so wonderful for babies.  This soft sole slip on shoes with elastic around the back help keep baby warm and protected but as comfortable as bare feet.  Robeez makes good quality ones that last.  My kids both loved these and I did too!

Baby Blankets

Baby blankets are always a home run when it comes to baby showers.  You really can’t have too many as babies have many ways of making you reach for a fresh one.  A crochet baby blanket that is made entirely of natural materials and would make a very special gift for a new baby. My sister still has the one my mom knitted for her.  If you don’t crochet or knit you can find some lovely blankets on Etsy.
