Hosting a party and need some birthday balloon decoration ideas? I have the perfect fun birthday balloon decoration for your party! Try this easy simple balloon decoration at home. You can make a candy filled birthday balloon banner in just a few steps with a few simple supplies. I also provide four more fun way to do decorate with candy stuffed balloons. This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Hershey Company. All opinions are 100% mine.

5 Fun Candy Filled Birthday Balloon Ideas

how to make balloon decorations for birthday

My favorite birthday balloon decoration ideas involve a surprise element. The birthday balloon decorations are made extra fun with a surprise inside! You can hide candy and confetti inside the birthday balloons. You will see the shadow of the candy and confetti inside but you won’t know exactly what is in there.

Candy Stuffed Balloons Decoration Ideas:

  • a fun table centerpiece
  • tie one to the back of each chair
  • make balloon garlands or banners
  • create a birthday party theme shape as wall art made out of balloons- example- a heart
  • create a balloon dart wall
  • tie together a few to make balloon bouquets
  • make balloon column as a great way to frame each side of the doorway
  • if you use helium balloons, you can make balloon arches

The balloons can be popped at the end of the party for a festive bonus and guests can collect the candies and enjoy the confetti. Because the candies may fall on the floor, you will want to use individually wrapped candies. The Hershey Company’s new birthday-themed products are the perfect candies because they come dressed in their birthday party best. From Kit Kat Miniatures to Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups Miniatures to iconic Hersheys Kisses Chocolates, your favorite Hershey products are now available designed for birthday parties. Whether you are using them in goodie bags, for party games, or to make balloon decoration ideas like these, you can rest assured that Hershey candies are crowd-favorites.

Making your little one feel extra special on their big day just got easier! Which of these birthday decoration ideas is your favorite? My favorite of these birthday balloon decorations ideas is to make balloon garland. Candy stuffed balloon party decorations are a quick way to bring any special event to the next level.

Hershey's Display

You can find these Hershey’s new birthday-themed products at select Walmart locations situated in colorful displays in the prime party supply zone (not the candy aisle). They are easy to grab as you are shopping around the store and checking off your party shopping list.

Supplies Needed For Candy Filled Balloon Decorations:

  • latex balloons
  • Hershey’s new birthday-themed products (I used the Jolly Rancher and Twizzlers Party Mix)
  • confetti
  • embroidery thread
  • scissors
  • large needle

In general, large latex balloons are best for stuffing with candy. However, different sizes are fun for things like balloon centerpieces or bouquets.

While I used these candy and confetti stuffed balloons for my daughter’s birthday celebration, they are actually a great way to that festive atmosphere and wow factor to any special occasions. From bridal showers to baby shower decoration to corporate events, you can’t go wrong with these simple balloon ideas.

Giant balloons are another growing trend for using to make confetti balloons. They work to stuff with a few candies too!

How To Stuff Balloons With Candy For Birthday Party:

Gather the supplies mentioned above and lay them out on a clear work space so you can begin to make balloon decorations. Then follow the simple steps below.

Begin stuffing a few of the Hershey’s new birthday-themed products inside the balloon necks. I used Jolly Ranchers candies and Jolly Rancher Chews. I stuffed about 3 candies into each balloon pulling the balloon necks over the candies kind of like tights over your feet.  You don’t want the balloons to get too heavy so try to limit the candies to 3-5 in each balloon.

Next, hold the balloon over your bag of confetti (mine were metallic hearts and sparkles) and sprinkle a few pinches of confetti inside the neck of the balloon. Blow up your “stuffed” balloons nice and large and tie them off.  They will be weighted down with the candy so you can also just set a few here and there on the coffee table or mantle for extra decorations if you wish. Now thread your embroidery thread onto the needle and pull free your length of the banner that you want to create.  Use the needle to poke the extra tie off part of the balloon and thread the balloons onto your embroidery thread to create your banner.

The great thing about this method is that you don’t have to be very precise because you can just slide your balloons into place once you hang the banner and clip the extra string.  (If you prefer you could just tie the string around each balloon tie off but then you will want to measure and space the balloons evenly as you go.) That is it!

Place Your Stuffed Balloons

Your candy filled birthday balloon decoration is all set! Now you just hang it up, slide balloons apart evenly and enjoy.  This decoration is perfect is use for carnival birthday party theme and let the pop the balloons outside to get the goodies out!

Making your little one feel extra special on their big day just got easier with Hershey’s new birthday-themed products that can be added to the party spread, used as party favors or prizes, and even part of the decorations! Visit select Walmart locations for Birthday parties with Hersheys and to find all your birthday party needs.

I love this idea! I’ll have to think of a safe way to use these in a game so that essentially each child gets their own pinata to pop and collect candy from. Thanks for the great idea and tutorial!
