I love eco-friendly fabrics and I have written about several types before but today I want to share a newer fabric made from recycled bottles. I am so excited out this eco friendly men’s clothing because it is easy to care for, fashionable, and affordable. Haggar, a manufacturer of men’s clothing, is making sustainable men’s pants and they provided samples in order to facilitate my review today. They will also provide 2 pair for giveaway to one lucky reader.
Eco-Friendly Men’s Clothing That’s Easy-Care, Fashionable, And Affordable
Haggar is one of the first men’s dress and casual pant brands to take a sustainable approach without sacrificing the look, feel and comfort of the product. They are using Repreve Fibers blended with other fibers to create a material that looks and feels familiar yet it uses 6 recycled water bottles in the production of each pant! That is pretty amazing and you can feel good about helping to reduce the number of used water bottles out there. In fact, the Repreve fabric pants have enabled Haggar to save more than 125 million water bottles from entering landfills.
How The Repreve Fabric Is Made:
Plastic bottles labeled with a #1 on the bottom are made of polyester called PET, polyethylene terephthalate. PET bottles are ground into flakes that are then transformed into REPREVE threads, the production of which has a zero carbon footprint. The threads are woven into the fabric that is then dyed and used to make Haggar¹s E-CLO and Life Khaki Sustainable Chino.
We all that know that sometimes the eco-friendly choices can cost a little extra, but not this time. You will love these Haggar pants because they are priced so reasonably. Both pants are a great value with a price point under $70, and a sales price typically around $30-35.
Haggar E-CLO Stria Dress Pant & Haggar Life Khaki Sustainable Chino Review:
E-CLO™ Dress Pant Details:
Hidden Expandable Waistband: Expands up to 3″ (perfect for travel)
77% polyester, 23% recycled polyester
Haggar eclo™ products made with REPREVE® recycled fiber by UNIFI
Haggar’s E-CLO Stria Dress Pant looks great. It is a light weight fabric that has that dressy look but is easy to care for. They are machine washable and no iron with a permanent crease. That is just the way I like my husband’s pants- low maintenance but looking sharp. They have that polished look that will go great with a suit jacket or without.
Life Khaki Sustainable Chino Details:
Off Seam Pockets
59% Cotton, 39% Recycled Polyester 2% Spandex
The Haggar Life Khaki Sustainable Chino is a more casual pant. The Repreve fibers are mixed with cotton and spandex for the Life Khaki Sustainable Chino and the resulting fabric is soft and a little thicker- just what you expect in Chinos. These slim-fit flat-front chinos are very stylish and the bit of stretch keeps them comfortable as well.
I was able to take both pairs of Hagar sustainable men’s pants straight out of the box and hang them up for my husband to wear without needing an iron. Big win. He liked the way the fit and look. Big win. They were comfortable and stayed looking fresh all day. Big win. I am so happy with these new pants and they come in so many colors that I am sure I will be buying many more pairs. The pants are available for purchase at haggar.com, amazon.com (affiliate links below) and most major retailers including Kohl’s, JCPenney and Macy’s.
