Jacksonville, Florida is huge city with a ton of culture. It is a great place to live and visit. Whether you are visiting or moving to Jacksonville, you will want to check out these restaurants. As a former resident of Jacksonville, I have eaten at these restaurants many times and everything written about the food is my opinion. I think these are some of the best restaurant in Jacksonville and I am sure you will love them.
10 Of My Favorite Restaurants in Jacksonville:
1. Tapa That
Tapa That is a tapas styled restaurant that is located Five Points. It has a relaxing, intimate atmosphere in a very artsy part of town. The food is always changing but always unique. The smoked salmon spread on cucumber petals was light and flavorful, the baked smoked gouda cheese was absolutely terrific and the banana baguettes are sensational. If you are vegan, no problem, every dish with cheese can be substituted for a vegan cheese. This place will not disappoint!
2. Moon River Pizza
Moon River Pizza is located in Riverside. This is one of the best places to get handmade pizzas. Here you can order by the slice so you can try a little bit of everything! The white pizza is amazing or you can build your own pizza. They have salads, calzones plus a selective wine menu.
3. The Casbah Cafe
The Casbah Cafe is located in Avondale. You can dine inside or outside. Either way the atmosphere is relaxing and exotic. At night they may have live music or belly dancing. If you are looking for Middle Eastern food, this is the place to go. The food is very rich and delicious. The hummus and baba ghanoush are great starters or if you are looking for something lighter try the vegetarian grape leaves and for an entree I would have to suggest the Casbah pizza!
4. The Brick
The Brick is located in Avondale as well. They put a twist on the wide variety of American food. For starters try the seared ahi tuna or the tuna tartare with a seaweed salad. The salmon dishes are to die for but my personal favorite is the shrimp and grits and if you get a side try the kale salad. The Brick also offers a Sunday brunch! They have different but tasty versions of eggs benedict and my personal favorite huevos rancheros. They have outside seating as well as inside, and furry friends are welcome. You simply cannot go wrong here!
5. Blue Fish
Blue Fish is another restaurant located in Avondale. It has an elegant but fun and artsy atmosphere. This is a great place to get seafood! They have an oyster bar and a great wine list. The fried green tomatoes and eggplant with jumbo lump crab are fantastic starters. Their fish dishes and jambalaya are packed with spices and flavor.
6. Angie’s Subs
Angie’s Subs is located near Jax Beach. It is a very laid back and relaxed environment with very tasty subs. It is a great place to go before or after your visit to the beach. No need to wear your dresses and suits! They are well known for their Peruvian styled sub and boy is it good. The Peruvian sauce they put on the subs is addicting!
7. Bistro Aix
The elegant French Bistro Aix is located downtown in San Marco. For starters try the blue cheese chips (large portion) and the sesame tuna tartare. For an entree I would personally recommend the smoked salmon pizza, who doesn’t love pizza? The bar, Le Bar, is a unique addition to the restaurant with its own small menu.
8. Clark’s Fish Camp
Clark’s Fish Camp is located on the water in the Mandarin, Julington area. It is one of the most interesting restaurants you will ever go to. The atmosphere is laid back and entertaining. The menu is unique but the walls of the restaurant are even more so. The inside is covered in taxidermy. You feel like you are in a natural history museum! This is a great place to take your kids. As far as traditional dishes go, the baby back ribs are great! But the other unique dishes here are amazing. The frog legs, gator and fried snake are so delicious. As odd as it may sound they are on the menu and they are a must try!
9. Orsay
Orsay is located in Riverside. It is an elegant French restaurant with a wide range of food and drinks. For appetizers definitely try the marinated calimari, the steak tartare and the escargots. The drinks here are very unique. Some even have egg whites in them! Don’t let that scare you away. I would highly suggest the pear jalapeño margarita, it is refreshing with a hint of spice. If you do plan on going make a reservation!
10. O’Brothers Irish Pub
O’Brothers Irish Pub is located in Five Points. If you have not yet been to Five Points you should! This is a great place to get a drink and relax. You can choose to dine inside or outside. The traditional Irish food is fantastic. I would recommend the corned beef and cabbage, the shepherd’s pie, or my personal favorite the Guinness mac and cheese.
