Family movie night is something almost every family does as one of their fun activities to do with kids. This is a great time for kids and parents to enjoy some good entertainment and food. If they were able to decide, kids may eat fatty and sugary foods every day. It is common for the movie theater to sell candy and buttery popcorn, so movies are commonly associated with such unhealthy snacks. Fortunately, parents can make healthy family movie night snacks that also taste delicious. Here are some useful suggestions for healthy snacks everyone will enjoy on your next movie night.

Ideas For Healthy Snacks For Movie Night

healthy movie night snacks

There are so many healthy alternatives for movie night snacks and they don’t have to be complicated. You just need to get used to grabbing a few new snack foods with health benefits for your at-home movie nights. Switch your potato chips for veggie chips! Got a sweet tooth? Swap your high fructose corn syrup candies for fruit salad or frozen yogurt. Don’t worry. Here are lots more favorite movie night snacks to inspire you.

1. Cinnamon Popcorn

Butter and sugar are the two elements that make movie popcorn unhealthy. However, plain popcorn has very few calories. Skip the butter, and add a tiny bit of sugar with plenty of cinnamon. The cinnamon sugar popcorn aroma is enough to entice any family member. By making popcorn in a pan or popper, parents have a chance to teach kids how to make something from scratch. Plain kernels are much cheaper than pre-seasoned bags and then you get to skip all the yucky preservatives and additives. Try this super cool microwave popper- here is my affiliate amazon link.

2. Fresh Fruit Fondue

Most kids dislike at least one kind of fruit. However, fresh pineapple, watermelon, strawberries and apples are usually acceptable. To give the fruit a little extra appeal, consider making chocolate fondue with fruit as one of your family movie night snacks. Bananas, apples and strawberries are the best fruits for dipping in chocolate. Some health food stores sell low-calorie chocolate fondue mixes or you can use this chocolate fondue recipe. Using dark chocolate is a healthier choice than milk chocolate.

3. Veggies & Dip

Most prepackaged dips are full of sodium and unhealthy trans fats. However, it is possible to make low-fat dips at home. Purchase a small tub of low-fat sour cream. Then, to make a dip similar to Hidden Valley Ranch’s flavor, use a small pinch of onion powder, a pinch of garlic powder, a pinch of black pepper and a pinch of fresh dill. Cut up broccoli, carrots, celery and any other desired dipping vegetables.

Peanut butter also makes a great dip for celery sticks. A natural peanut butter does have fat but they are healthy fats, as Health.com says, ” Peanut butter is a good source of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which support a healthy heart. And peanuts don’t have many carbohydrates, so the spread is perfect for people with prediabetes.”

4. Fruit Smoothies

With smoothies as an alternative, there is no need to load up on fat and sugar with ice cream. These delicious treats are easy to make. Choose some fresh fruit to blend. Strawberries, bananas, mangoes, peaches and pineapple are all delicious selections. If peaches or nectarines are used, be sure to peel them. For each cup of fruit used, add one cup of milk to the blender. For every two cups of fruit used, add one small cup of low-fat yogurt. Add about three ice cubes for each cup of fruit used. Simply blend these natural ingredients together for a delicious snack.

5. Frozen Fruit Bars

Most kids have a favorite type of juice, so find use whatever kind of juice your kids prefer. There are many ways to make these fruit popsicles aka frozen fruit bars. Some people prefer recipes that mix juice with a couple of tasty add ins like this creamsicle recipe and some simply prefer to add only fresh fruit and juice. To make the fruit easier to eat, cut it into small pieces. Pour the ingredients into Popsicle containers. To keep sticks from slanting sideways, purchase a Popsicle container that has fitted sticks with supportive bottoms. These tasty treats usually take about four to six hours to freeze completely.

barkTHINS

The handcrafted barkTHINS are called snacking chocolates because they come in thin slivers of Fair Trade Certified chocolate packed with natural ingredients, like coconut and almonds. You’ll want to eat a few chocolate chips with their delicious ingredients and satisfying crunch.

I recently tried the Fresh Fruit Fondue recipe, and it was an absolute hit with everyone at the gathering. The concept of combining fresh, vibrant fruits with a luscious chocolate fondue sauce is not only enticing but also a delightful treat for the senses. The experience begins with the preparation of an assortment of fruits, from the classic strawberries and banana slices to the more exotic pineapple and melon. This diversity ensures that there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

I really enjoyed your article on healthy movie night snacks. It’s always a challenge to find snacks that are both healthy and satisfying, but you’ve come up with some great ideas. I especially like the idea of popcorn with nutritional yeast and garlic powder, and the fruit kabobs are a great option for kids.
