With summer here the kids and I are trying to think of fun summer treats to keep us cool.  The kids absolutely love orange creamsicles but of course, with all of our food sensitivities I am hesitant to buy treats like that.  It’s always best to make our own when we can.  These Homemade Creamsicles are so easy to make, with just 3 ingredients, and the kids love to help! There’s nothing quite like enjoying a treat you get to help make. Enjoy this easy orange creamsicle recipe.

Easy Homemade Orange Creamsicle Recipe

Simple Ingredients:

  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 8 oz softened cream cheese
  • optional: 1/2 tsp vanilla extract and 1 tsp of fresh orange zest

This creamsicle popsicle recipe makes about 8 pops. You will need a popsicle mold. If you don’t have one already, you can use my affiliate amazon link. That model has 10 popsicle molds in one unit.

The ingredients in this orange creamsicle popsicle recipe are nice and simple. You can substitute plain Greek yogurt for the cream cheese if you so desire. You can also add a splash of maple syrup if you know you have a huge sweet tooth and will want the added sugar.

How To Make Orange Creamsicles:

In the bowl of a stand mixer blend the cream cheese until it is soft and creamy.

Slowly add the orange juice to the cream cheese.  You don’t want to add it all at once or you’ll end up with a lot of splatter.  Mix the juice and cream cheese until it is blended.  The creamsicles have a very mild orange flavor with just the orange juice, which my family loves.  For a more powerful orange flavor you can add 1/2 teaspoon of orange extract.

After the orange juice and cream cheese are blended, slowly add the whipping cream and mix on high.  The mixture will begin to thicken but will not become as thick as whipping cream.  It should still be thin enough to easily pour.

Homemade Orange Creamsicles

Pour the orange creamsicle mixture into your popsicle mold and transfer them to the freezer.  Freeze for several hours or overnight to insure they are frozen solid.  The creamsicles melt a little faster than a traditional popsicle so you’ll want them to be frozen all the way through!

Homemade Orange Creamsicles

Remove them from the freezer and run the bottom of the mold under warm water for a few seconds to help them release.
