Spring is here and for me that often means I am looking for smaller meals and meals that aren’t hot. Besides being the prime time to lose a few pounds to fit into my summer wardrobe better, I just don’t feel as hungry when I am hot and I just don’t want a hot meal or a hot kitchen. I often rely on a few favorites but when I get bored, I really enjoy being creative and mixing up something new in the kitchen. I was reading an YourCareEverywhere article on Fat-Burning Foods the other day and and I thought why not create an easy to make belly fat burning recipe? I have put together a Black Bean Avocado Salad Recipe that fits that bill and is delicious. It makes a great addition to your belly fat burning diet or it can just be a satisfying, healthy dish for you enjoy this spring.
I chose to base my Black Bean Avocado Salad Recipe ingredients around yogurt, avocado, ginger, pulses (beans, peas, lentils), and pistachios because, “Research has shown these five foods correlate to lower weight, healthier BMI, and smaller waist circumference.” Thinking about what goes well together, I decided to pick black beans from the pulses category because their flavor goes great with avocado. And if you are thinking but aren’t avocados fattening? Think again. Adding healthy fats to your diet can actually help you reduce your body fat. In fact, “Avocados, which are high in omega-3 fatty acids, can break down fat deposits around your waistline and reduce weight gain.” The yogurt and ginger lend themselves well to a dressing to which I added a few other ingredients for flavor- all of which are healthy selections. Then you can top with a few chopped pistachios as a garnish and to add a bit of crunch.
Belly fat is some of the hardest fat to get rid of and the best way to burn belly fat is to practice proper diet and exercise. I don’t focus on it too much but I do like to have a few natural belly fat burners up my sleeve to help the process along. I love avocado so making recipes that use avocado is fun for me anyway! I also find plain yogurt (skip the sweeted fruit flavors) so refreshing and yummy. On that note, the other fast easy trick I use to reduce my BMI is to reduce my sugar consumption.

This Black Bean Avocado Salad Recipe just calls for a few simple ingredients and is quick and easy to make. I used canned black beans because they are so super easy. They are already cooked and ready to go but of course you could soak and cook them yourself and allow them to cool for this recipe.
Recipe serves 2.
Black Bean Avocado Salad Ingredients:
1 can of black beans, drained and rinsed
1 avocado, pitted, pealed, and sliced
1/2 cup of plain yogurt
juice from 1 lime
1 tsp of fresh ginger, peeled, and finely grated
1 large garlic clove, pressed or finely minced
1 tbsp of cilantro, minced
1 tbsp of pistachios, peeled and chopped
Black Bean Avocado Salad Recipe Directions:
After draining the black beans and rinsing them a few times, shake out the excess water and arrange half of them on each of two plates to form the bed of your salad.
I slice my avocado in half and remove the pit (you can save the pit to grow an avocado tree). I then slice each half of the avocado until I reach the skin and scoop out the slices.
Arrange avocado slices over your beds of black beans by fanning out half of your avocado slices on each plate.
Place them in the fridge to chill for a couple of minutes while you make the sauce.
In a small bowl, combine yogurt, garlic, ginger, cilantro, and lime juice. This makes a flavorful, tangy dressing for your Black Bean Avocado Salad. Drizzle half over each salad.
Roughly chop pistachios. Sprinkle chopped pistachios over the dressed salad. Salt and pepper to taste if you desire. Serve.
I think this Black Bean Avocado Salad makes the perfect quick, easy, healthy lunch or dinner and it is a great bonus that almost all the ingredients are belly fat burners!
