During the holiday season, most people tend to over indulge.  I mean with appetizers, meals, cookies, and cakes, and pies, it is hard not too!  But once the holidays are done most people find they have gained quite a few pounds!  If you want to help yourself eliminate toxins, lose weight, and improve your nutritional intake, you will love these DIY natural body cleanse recipes.  Start the morning with the Liver Juice Cleanse Recipe followed by the natural gut cleanse quinoa porridge recipe.

You don’t have to buy any special supplements and don’t need any special equipment.  I saw Sophie Uliano share these recipes for this DIY natural holiday cleanse on Home & Family, which airs weekdays at 10 am ET/PT on Hallmark Channel.  I was given permission to share the DIY natural holiday cleanse with you here.  These recipes are great for year round nutrition but you may find you need them more than usual after the holidays!

Detox With These Post Holiday Cleanse Recipes

After consuming heavy meals, alcohol, and sugar, giving your digestive system a break with lighter, nutrient-dense foods can reduce bloating and improve gut health. Overindulging can leave you feeling sluggish. A detox focusing on whole, unprocessed foods and hydration can help restore energy. These boy cleanse recipes come from Sophie Uliano, author of New York Times best-selling book, Gorgeously Green (affiliate link).  Sophie is a Certified Holistic Nutritionist and you can find a lot more nutritious recipes at sophieuliano.com.

While cleansing is great, you need to follow it up with a healthy protein breakfast that will keep you from getting hungry and munching on junk.  This natural gut cleanse coconut quinoa porridge is high in protein and cholesterol free.  Top with a few apples for an apple pie feel or strawberries and banana for a tropical feel.  This coconut quinoa porridge is full of fiber which will help keep you regular and help with the elimination of toxins as well.

Ingredients for Coconut Quinoa Porridge

  • 1 cup quinoa
  • 2 cups unsweetened coconut milk
  • 4-6 dates, pitted
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1tsp raw virgin coconut oil
  • Seasonal fruit (optional)
  • Toasted pecans or walnuts (for topping)

How To Make Coconut Quinoa Porridge

Place quinoa in heavy-bottomed pan with coconut milk and dates.

Simmer for approx 15 minutes or until all milk is absorbed.

Remove from heat, stir in the remaining ingredients, except for coconut oil, fruit and nuts. Replace lid until ready to eat.

When ready to serve, top each bowl with coconut oil, fruit and nuts.

Conclusion

A post-holiday detox can be a way to reset your body and mind after indulging in rich foods, sugary treats, and perhaps less healthy habits during the holiday season. While the body has its own natural detox systems (like the liver and kidneys), a detox can support these processes and help you feel refreshed. Holidays often disrupt regular routines, including eating, exercising, and sleeping. A detox can help reestablish balance.

These two DIY natural cleanse recipes work very well together to help you shed weight, lose toxins, and improve your nutrition.  Simply replacing your normal breakfasts with these for one week will do wonders.  You may even like the results of the liver cleanse juice recipe and the natural gut cleanse so much that you will want to work them into your diet on a more regular basis!

Did you over indulge during the holiday season?  Are you looking forward to trying these tasty DIY natural body cleanse recipes?

Most people are milking the holiday indulgence right up until midnight on New Year’s- I think it’s smart to start thinking of resetting one’s mind and body now. That coconut porridge looks delicious!

The holidays are a bad time of year for food. I think a cleanse is a good idea to get the bad food out of your system.
