Here is a step-by-step tutorial for DIY pumpkin decor. Pumpkins do not have to be just for Halloween and by using faux pumpkins you can display them for the whole autumn season. These are great to place outside the front door, on the center of a table, or next to the fireplace. These ideas for pumpkin decorating without carving are very simple and inexpensive to make. This can also be a great craft for the kids or the whole family to enjoy together!
DIY Pumpkin Decor For The Fall Season
DIY Pumpkin Decor Supplies:
- Faux pumpkins (you can use real pumpkins too but they won’t last as long)
- Spray paint
- Rhinestones
- Glitter
- Glue
- Glue gun
DIY Pumpkin Decorating Instructions:
After purchasing the pumpkins you will need to get spray paint. It is best to stay with neutrals or fall/autumn colors. I chose white with a gloss finish for one and copper with a metallic finish for the other.
Now spray paint your pumpkins in a well ventilated area or outside.
Once they have dried it is time to decorate! If you want to go the glitter route I would suggest using Elmer’s glue. Use a paint brush and brush the glue onto the places where you want the glitter and then sprinkle the glitter onto the glue. For the gradient effect use your fingers and sprinkle the glitter bit by bit until you get the look you want.
If you want to use rhinestones then you will need a glue gun. Simply just glue the stones where you want. I chose to start from the top with large stones and worked my way down the sides using smaller stones.
Let your DIY pumpkin decor dry, display and enjoy!
