GeoSafari Dino Dig Review

My daughter is 6 and she wants to be a paleontologist! She has been sticking with this career selection for about two years now (previously it was an artist and fireman!) When I saw the GeoSafari Dino Dig Educational Toy from Educational Insights, I knew my daughter would love it!

GeoSafari Review of Dino Dig Triceratops

GeoSafari Dino Dig Review

The GeoSafari Dino Dig comes in three different dinosaur choices. We chose the Triceratops Dino Dig! This cool paleontology set provides a realistic archaeological challenge on a student-size scale. She was able to excavate and assemble a complete skeleton from “fossilized” rock like real archaeologists (even with the help of her 4 year old brother!) The kit includes excavation tool, dust brush, wax adhesive and 32-page Activity Guide with complete instructions and dinosaur facts.

I read the instructions out loud to my daughter and then we brought the clay block that she needed to do her dinosaur dig outside onto the porch and I put an old paper bag under it and she went to work excavating while I read to her about her dinosaur from the Activity Guide.  It was really a fun project.  I enjoyed reading to her about Triceratops and dinosaur excavation while she worked away.  She was hooked on her block almost right away when she found her first bone.  It was such an exciting process for her and there are a bunch of bones packed into the block so it stays exciting throughout the GeoSafari Dig.

Once she had unearthed all of the dinosaur bones and my son had colored in the pieces on the diagram as she found them, she was them and then was ready to begin assembly.  She was really excited about this part and she used the included wax to help stick the bones together.  When she was done I put it on the display board and up on a high shelf where it can remain undisturbed (hopefully.)  The sturdy GeoSafari Dino Dig plastic skeleton measures 5 3/8″ H x 8 1/2″ L when assembled.

This was a really fun project for her and she would love to do it again with the other dinos so I know it was a hit!
