I am a bit of a coffee snob. I used to work as a barista at Starbucks so it sort of comes with the territory. I know an excessive amount about coffee beans, various roasts, all sorts of coffee and espresso drink recipes, and various options for making an excellent cup of joe at home. In addition, my husband was raised in Italy so the love of a good espresso runs in his genes. I think I have high standards but his are even higher! So recently when our very pricey espresso machine quit on us, I began to research some replacement options. Cappuccinos are my drink of choice and I was really curious to try the new Keurig cappuccino machine since I had heard it was super easy to use and priced well. I was provided with a Keurig® K-Café Single Serve Coffee, Latte & Cappuccino Maker in order to facilitate my Keurig K-Café review.
Keurig K-Café Review: My Thoughts On The New Keurig Cappuccino Machine
First, I will cut to the chase and give you my quick summation Keurig K-Café review then I will proceed to provide you with in depth details on the various features and how well they function.
Short Keurig K-Café Review:
I have to say that most people will absolutely love the Keurig® K-Café Single Serve Coffee, Latte & Cappuccino Maker. This new Keurig cappuccino machine makes it super easy to make incredibly good quality foam every single time. It is also super easy to make a great quality cup of coffee brewed to your exacting size and boldness strength desires. The K-Cafe brews strong coffee shots for the cappuccino and lattes, not actual espresso. However I can confidently say, that most people will not notice the difference.
In Depth Keurig K-Café Review:
With the new K-Café™, it is easy to make a coffee, coffee au lait, coffee latte, and coffee cappuccino. This Keurig coffee cappuccino maker is Keurig single cup coffee maker so you can use any K-Cup® pod to whip up a creamy, frothy coffee drink. I made a quick video on Instagram TV to share the basics with you.
It is important to note is that the K-Cafe is not an espresso machine. If you are an espresso snob who enjoys drinking espresso shots by themselves like my husband does, you will notice that the K-Cafe does not make espresso. However, it does brew strong coffee shots that make coffee lattes and cappuccinos that even I, who used to be a Starbucks barista, enjoy. I honestly think that most people would never notice the difference between a Keurig coffee cappuccino made with the K-Cafe and an espresso cappuccino. To be honest though, a super discerning palate, like my husband’s, can tell it is not espresso.
Keurig Single Cup Coffee Maker
The Keurig K-Café Single Serve Coffee, Latte & Cappuccino Maker is so easy to use.
To make a coffee, you just insert a K-Cup, select the one of the four cup size options ( 6, 8, 10, and 12oz.), hot the strong button if you like a bolder coffee, and hit brew.
To make a cappuccino or latte, you just select capp or latte and allow it to froth your milk. Then you hit the Latte & Capp button and hit brew. Then you just pour the frothed milk over the coffee shot and enjoy! You can even make an ice latte or cappuccion by hitting the cold button on the milk frother.
This Keurig single cup coffee maker is very easy to use and keeps things neat and contained nicely. You can brew several different coffee drinks in row as long you use a new K-Cup for each one.
K-Cup Or The Reusable My K-Cup
The K-Cafe model works with normal K-Cups. For this Keurig K-Cafe review, I tested it with Laughing Man K-Cups because I love that they a Fair Trade coffee company and that their K-Cups are recyclable plastic #5. The K-Cups make it super easy because there is nothing to measure and nothing to clean!
The K-Cafe model also works with the reusable My K-Cup which is a Keurig accessory that is sold separately. The My K-Cup houses a single serve size stainless steel coffee filter so you can use any ground coffee you want to make your coffee. The My K-Cup is easy to use and works fantastic. Of course, it does require that you add the coffee and clean it out each time. For the Keurig K-Café Single Serve Coffee, Latte & Cappuccino Maker you will need to remove K-Cup pod holder assembly. You will not need to use the My K-Cup adapter. I made a brief video explaining it below:
Keurig Milk Frother
The Keurig milk frother does an amazing job. As a Starbucks barista who made froth by hand each time, I can tell you that some people are better at making froth manually with a steam wand than others and it takes practice to get it right. But with the milk frother on the Keurig K-Café Single Serve Coffee, Latte & Cappuccino Maker it is so easy to get the perfect froth every time and without any practice. You just fill the pitcher with milk to either the cappuccino line or the latte line, put the lid on, place on the machine and push the button for it to do all the work. So easy and it makes amazing foam! Plus, you can use any kind of milk you want (almond milk, soy milk, skim milk, etc). The frother pitcher is dishwasher safe for easy clean up.
Large Water Reservoir
The Keurig K-Café Single Serve Coffee, Latte & Cappuccino Maker has a large reservoir which saves time on refilling. I also like that the Keurig coffee cappuccino maker reservoir is removable for easy refilling.
Auto off feature automatically turns your brewer off 2 hours after the last brew for energy savings and safety.
Travel Mug Friendly
This Keurig coffee cappuccino maker accommodates travel mugs up to 7.2” tall and is top rack dishwasher safe for easy cleanup.
All in all, I love how easy it is to use the Keurig K-Café Single Serve Coffee, Latte & Cappuccino Maker and I love the amazing milk foam on the latte and cappuccinos.
