Here’s a fun and simple Valentine craft that kids will love helping make and a bonus…this heart suncatcher craft will add some fun decoration to their room! There are all kind of paper sun light catchers that can be made. We made them this past summer for the 4th of July! This Heart Suncatcher Craft Banner can be customized to your favorite colors and sizes. They all seem to come out pretty unique. You more than likely already have everything that you need to get started!

Heart Suncatcher Craft Supplies Needed:

  • Construction Paper
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Plastic sandwich bag
  • Twine/Cord

Directions For How To Make Your Heart Suncatcher Craft Banner:

Grab your supplies and head to a flat surface. If your kids are joining, grab a seat at the table! Start by tracing out several hearts on your construction paper. Your garland can be as long as you would like for it to be. We stuck with 5 small size hearts. Once you have drawn out your hearts, cut them out. Next, grab your plastic bag. Trace around your cut out hearts onto the plastic bag.

Cut out your plastic hearts and tape them to the back of your construction hearts. Take your tissue paper (I used what we had which was just plain white but feel free to add colorful tissue paper as well!) and start tearing it into small pieces. They do not have to be all the same size. Flip your heart over where the back is facing up and cover the plastic with your tissue paper taping down pieces as you go.

Once you have covered all of your plastic, tape your hearts to your twine and you have your own Heart Suncatcher Craft Banner! Hang up in a window and watch the sunlight come through the paper.

Have you ever made sun light catchers? This fun and easy suncatcher craft is a kid favorite!

You may also enjoy making a washi tape heart banner.  You can use them both to decorate different rooms or different areas of the same room for Valentine’s Day or an anniversary!

This tissue paper stained glass craft is also really fun and a great sun catcher.
