Erika Wassall, the Jersey Farm Scribe, here with an incredible Oreo Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe. The concept may blow your mind. I mean, what makes cookies better than shoving more cookies inside of them?!!!  So seriously, let’s not waste any time. You are going to love these chocolate chip oreo cookies. The textures are fabulous- creamy filling, chewy cookie, melty chips, a bit of crunch from the Oreo. The flavors are amazing too- sweet vanilla, rich cocoa, buttery cookie dough, all swirling together.

This chocolate chip cookie recipe was first published August 5, 2015. I have added a recipe card and republished it here for you to enjoy. This recipe and post are not brought to you in partnership with Nabisco but rather just by an OREO lover- me!

How To Make Oreo Chocolate Chip Cookies – So Delicious!

I used about a 13 to 16 oreo cookies. So if you get 16, and you eat one, it’s okay. When cooking with regular oreos, I’ve learned to make room to snack.

First, we mash up the Oreos. Normally, I mash things with the Ziploc bag method- stick them in a bag and mash. No mess! But in this case, too much of the oreo cream got stuck to the bag. I want that goodness in my cookies, not in the trash. So, I suggest you just mash ‘em up with your hands. You won’t want TINY pieces anyway. I like big Oreo chunks. Set bowl of broken oreo cookie pieces aside.

crumbles
Could we make cereal out of this somehow????

Then grab a box of cake mix (vanilla, white, yellow butter, whatever), a stick of unsalted butter (room temperature so it will be softened), an egg and some vanilla extract. Mix it all in a large bowl and beat it into a thick dough.

Add 3 ounces of softened cream cheese, and blend some more.

Then, just stir in your Oreo cookie crumbles, and a handful of semi-sweet chocolate chips. (I like to mix up the chip sizes- a small handful of mini chocolate chips, a small handful of regular ones. You could even use white chocolate chips if you like.) Mix this part in by hand.

It’s a LOT of mix-ins, so go slow. It’ll come together. This stuff is spoon-able!

dough
YUM!

Then pop the dough in the fridge for 20 minutes, or two hours, whatever. It just needs to be chilled so you can roll it into cookie dough balls. When you’re ready to go, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and grease a cookie sheet.

PRO BAKING TIP:

This dough won’t spread out much, so you can put them close together on your baking sheet. It also means you need to shape the dough how you want the cookies to be shaped. They’ll look the same, just a bit bigger.

I did golf-ball sized cookies and them mashed them down into cookie shapes.

10-12 minutes total in the oven. That’s all it takes to bake cookies. Take them out. They may seem like they’re not done. They are. Trust me. Let them cool on the sheet a few minutes and them you can stack them onto a cooling rack.
