Do you ever get stuck in a dinner rut? When I find myself making the same old things, I hunt for a new exotic recipe to spice things up. This recipe for chicken tagine with apricot and tangerine fits that bill perfectly. Kiss My Keto provided this recipe along with a sample of their Keto Bone Broth. I am so happy with their convenient, nutritious bone broth that I decided to share it with you. This Chicken Tagine Recipe is for a Moroccan dish traditionally braised with olives, Moroccan spices and preserved lemons. This slightly different version includes apricot, tangerine, a flavorful broth, and whole almonds. It’s a sophisticated crowd-pleaser and easy to throw together for dinner parties.

Tangerine Apricot Chicken Tagine

Moroccan Chicken Tagine Recipe

This easy chicken tagine recipe brings the warm, comforting flavors of Moroccan cuisine right to your kitchen. With this easy recipe there is no need for special equipment like the traditional clay cooking vessel. Made with tender chicken, aromatic spices, and simple pantry ingredients, it’s a one-pot dish that’s both flavorful and fuss-free.

This chicken dish with exotic Moroccan spices and flavors is just mouth wateringly good! I like to serve it with a side dish of sauteed zucchini and carrots.

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 1 hour 15 minutes
Serves: 2

Moroccan Chicken Tagine Ingredients:

  • 2 chicken legs (drumstick with thigh attached s best but you may use skinless thighs if that is what you can get)
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp finely grated lemon zest
  • ½ tsp ground cumin seeds
  • ¼ tsp powdered ginger
  • 1 tangerine, peeled, separated
  • dried apricots, thinly sliced
  • 8 pitted green olives
  • 1/3 cup whole almonds
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ packet Kiss My Keto Bone Broth (Thai Green Curry Chicken)

Classic Chicken Tagine uses a harissa paste or a Moroccan spice blend called Ras el Hanout. To make this recipe, easy we use a curry broth to provide the exotic spice kick. You may substitute 1/4 cup chicken stock in place of the 1/4 cup water and 1/2 packet of Kiss My Keto Chicken Bone Broth. However, the curry flavor in the Kiss My Keto Bone Broth is quite nice in this chicken tagine recipe.

You may substitute skinless chicken thighs or chicken breasts on the bone in place of the chicken leg quarters. They are often easier to find at your local grocery store chain.

  6. Reduce heat to 350F and continue to bake for another 30
    minutes.

  8. Garnish with chopped parsley if you so desire. Add salt and black pepper to taste, if you desire.

I love the vibrant colors of this classic North Aftrican stew dish.

This Moroccan meal is great served on a bed of cauliflower “couscous” with a bit of Greek yogurt for dressing. Moroccan flatbread would also be a delicious option to serve with the Chicken Tagine.
