Conversations with family are the cornerstone of our lives. It is how we stay connected, how we know what is going on with each other, and how we relate to one another on a deeper level. Interesting conversations with a loved one are often some of our best memories. That is why I am truly happy to partner with a wonderful new resource for this- Remento. They have created a great new app to help people have deeper and more meaningful conversations with family members. What’s more? The Remento app provides a way to add context and narration to photos and to turn family conversation starters into amazing videos.
Remento is science-backed app to capture family stories through conversation. The Remento iOS app is free and available for download in the Apple App Store! It’s private and secure. It’s not a social media platform. There are no ads, and they don’t sell or monetize your data or content. Refreshing!
It is a mission-driven company. A health crisis in Charlie, the co-founder’s family planted the seeds for Remento. When his mother was diagnosed with cancer, he and his sister “planned and recorded conversations with their mom to create a time capsule of her best stories for future generations. They wanted to create a few videos, but the conversation and exploration that unfolded proved to be so much more. It became a learning opportunity that strengthened their relationships and left them more deeply connected than they ever could have imagined.”
Bringing families together for more family time is what Remento is all about. The app provides a set of tools to capture the nuance of your family stories and meaningful discussions. It’s a support system for guiding conversations and asking questions. At the same time it provides an opportunity to create more family conversations and special memories now.
As an individual who has lost both of her sisters unexpectedly, I can attest to the value of this app. I wish I had done a better job documenting my time with my sisters- taken more photos and videos. But I thought I had later. I am using Remento to start capturing our family stories now and it is both fun and moving to have those conversations with family members.
Capture Family Stories Through Meaningful Conversation Starters For Families
“The Remento App is designed to inspire and record in-person conversations that remind us we each have stories worth sharing.”
What a beautiful message! And the app does help you do just that. The app offers you project ideas to make it easier for you. The projects and prompts are designed by storytelling experts to remove the guesswork of getting started with any family member. In this way you know you have the best conversation starters. The questions can also be customized if you are more creative!
I love that Remento can be used to create something memorable on your own and/or with a loved one. You can choose a project where you provide narration for your photos and talk about why they are important and what they mean to you. This is a great way to add an element of curation to crowded media libraries. Or you can choose a project with questions centered around important people or events. Then, Remento organizes the the recorded video by story, making it easy for storing and sharing with your loved ones.
Example Remento Projects:
- Family Conversation Starters For Parents
- Reflect On Family Photos
- First Day of School
- High School Graduation
- College Graduation Party
- Birthday Questions
- Questions to Ask A Grandparent
- and more
Once you select a project, Remento provides a list of prompts. It is like having cue cards to make filming the video easy and keep it running smoothly without big gaps in the video.
Family Conversation Questions and Prompts
Choose a set of prompts or create your own from scratch. Remento uses photos, videos, and meaningful conversations for families to create new and record new family memories as well as add context to past photos or events. Your follow-up question is always ready and there is no editing needed!
Once you select a project, you can look over the list of questions it provides. Then you can go with them as they are or customize them in the app project. Next, you can sit down with your love one and record right within the app while it shows the prompts. It is so super easy! The videos can be preserved for posterity, shared across the family, or brought to life through a series of powerful viewing and collaboration features. The right questions will be helping you to make even more meaningful connections.
