Put Mom In The Photo- Capturing Family Memories

This post is sponsored by CVS Pharmacy. I have been asked to help spread the word about the Put Mom in the Photo concept. This is a pertinent topic year round for moms. I can tell you first hand that moms often don’t end up in the family photos. With Mother’s Day approaching, making sure mom gets into the family photos is a topic of timely importance that I truly feel passionate about.

Challenge: Put Mom In The Photo

When you become a mother, your whole world changes. Being a mother is a blessing and you find yourself in awe of a little miracle that actually emerged from you! Naturally, most people get busy documenting their precious baby and everything that baby does. This is when I want to remind you to put mom (and dad) in the photos too. In my house, I am always grabbing the camera to catch the cuteness of my kids and the cuteness of my kids with their dad but somehow I get left out of many of the photos because I am always the one taking them. Each year as I made my annual photo book, I realized that I was missing from many of our family memories. It was easy to rectify. I just started asking, my husband, “Would you take one of me with the kids too?” and naturally he was happy to do so. For us it was just a matter of thinking about putting mom in the photo! I hope this inspires my fellow moms to get out from behind the camera and be captured in your family memories.

I think it is immensely important for mom to be in the photos because we want our kids to have those family time memories captured not just as we saw them but also as they saw us. They love that mom in the photo and it will warm their heart to see you just the way they remembered you. I know it floods me with positive feelings when I see a photo of my mom with me from when I was little.

There is my mother trying to get me to look at the camera, just the way I remember her when I was young.

Sometimes it is as simple as remembering to get out from behind the camera. Other times, it involves conquering feelings of not being happy with the way we look. Let face it, being a mom is a wonderful gift but it does change the way our body looks and it does change the amount of time we devote to our own appearance. I say, don’t let that hold you back. Your kids don’t. They love you just the way you are and you should be proud of yourself the way you are and hop on into those photos with your children because they are worth every change we experience as moms.

I hope you get out from behind the camera and find someone to snap a few photos with your kids. Do you think you will take me up on this challenge and do a family photo shoot where you step out from behind the camera and capture yourself in the family memories?
