Inspiring Spring Mantel Decorating Ideas
Decorating your mantel for spring can infuse your space with a fresh, vibrant atmosphere. Here are some spring mantel decor ideas to inspire you. Let’s begin with the spring mantel decoration tutorial I promised you. It is very simple to achieve and can be accomplished through use of store bought items or you can make many of the items yourself if you prefer a more DIY approach.
Fresh Spring Mantel Decor With TV Tutorial
I have a large TV that covers most of my mantel area so for those of you that have this challenge too, this spring mantel decor with TV tutorial will address those limitations. If you don’t have a TV, you can still use this Fresh Spring Mantel idea and just use a large piece of DIY wall art in the center of the mantel.
My mantel was looking rather tired and weary so the first thing I did was clear off everything and clean the mantel to get a fresh start. Then I decided that I needed to bring some height to the mantel decor and some spring colors. While I love bright spring colors they wouldn’t really fit in with the rug I have in the room so I opted for more muted spring colors. I also wanted to make sure white was a large part of the new decor to bring some brightness to the area since I have a rather dark accent wall and dark TV to contend with.
I placed a couple of potted plants on my fireplace hearth. Introducing greenery and foliage such as ferns, succulents, or small potted flowers, adds a touch of nature.
I headed to Michael’s with those basic guidelines in mind for my spring mantel decorating ideas. You can use the exact pieces and color scheme I used by getting your decor there or you can use the basic items and heights and vary your color scheme and make some of your own decor. I like symmetry so I chose to mirror my decor on each side of the TV. I went for candle holders to increase the height and interest of my mantel. Tall sprigs of flowers to give it a fresh look. I also chose some lower decoration to sit directly on the mantel to ground the mantel decoration. The different heights gives more visual interest to your spring decor. Finally, I finished out with a banner for a festive feel to welcome spring.
Mantel Supplies:
- 2 Pilar Candle Stand Holders (Art Minds Pedestals)
- 2 Pilar Candles (Plain, unpainted wood is great for a rustic spring mantel look.)
- Banner (Martha Stewart)
- 2 Colored Bottles (Ashland)
- 2 Bush Tea Rose Sprigs (You could use fresh flowers but artificial last so much longer!)
- Bag of Wooden Letters (Art Minds)
- 2 Mini Ceramic Dishes (CelebrateIt)
- Bag of Decorative Eggs (You could use Easter eggs but I like the soft, natural color palette of these.)
Initially, I planned to paint the wooden candle holders and letters but then I liked the wooden decor look to ground the space and contrast with the white of the roses, candles, and dishes, and the green of the leaves, bud vases, and eggs.
First, I set up the bud vases (here is a DIY painted jars link) with the roses. Incorporate fresh flowers or faux floral arrangements in pastel colors or vibrant spring hues. Consider using vases, mason jars, or tall candle holders to display them.
Next, I placed the candles on the candle holders. I reused the cute silver bows from the cellophane packages to tie on the stand holders. You can display candles in various sizes and shapes to add warmth and a cozy ambiance. Opt for scented candles with floral or fresh scents to enhance the spring atmosphere.
Then, I placed my dishes and popped in the decorative eggs. I like that the eggs speak of spring without screaming Easter. This is your chance to incorporate seasonal decor items such as decorative bird nests, ceramic bunnies, egg ornaments, or butterfly figurines. Arrange them creatively along the mantel for a whimsical touch.
Finally, I added my Seasonal Typography or Signage in the form of a banner. I finished it off by using a hot glue gun to attach my S-P-R-I-N-G letters to my banner and hang with a silver thread. At last moment, I decided to add some butterflies I came across in my craft closet to each side of the banner for just a little something extra. : Incorporating your spring-themed quotes, phrases, or signage in beautiful typography could take the form of a wooden sign, a framed print, or lettered banners that add charm to the mantel.
And there you have my fresh spring mantel decor with TV.
I hope you enjoyed it. If you do a variation on this theme, I’d love it if you tag me with #familyfocusblog so I can see it!
