Tomy Tomica Review: Hypercity Rescue Storm Runner Jet

Tomy’s Tomica train sets, cars and towns has engaged children in Japan since 1959.  Now Tomy’s popular Tomica line is available in the U.S. with fun action toys. I was provided with a Tomica Hypercity Rescue Storm Runner Jet for review. I received no monetary compensation and all opinions expressed are my own.

Tomica Hypercity Rescue Review:

Tomica Hypercity Rescue

The newest Tomica Tomy vehicle is the Tomica Hypercity Rescue Storm Runner Jet designed for rescue missions.  I couldn’t resist this rescue jet since it transforms into three different vehicles – a jet, a submarine and a racecar.  My kids are 5 and 7 and they love transforming things.

The Tomica Hypercity Rescue jet changes very cleverly from car to jet and it is a medium level of difficulty, not too hard that will cause frustration and not too easy to be boring.  The Storm Runner Jet transports the hero train engine and has mobile action bases connected to the wings of the jet to launch cars.  These are very cool additions to the transforming jet.

The Tomica Hypercity Rescue train engine opens up in the front and the back and it seats up to three Tomica people (only 1 is included though).  The Tomica man also fits perfectly into the cockpit of the jet.  The mobile action bases that connect to the wings of the jet are pretty neat in that they can hold an emergency vehicle and they are made at an angle so that when you push the button to release the doors, the cars would come rolling out (however the vehicles are not included).

My kids love the Tomica Jet and they have a good time pretending and transforming.  I just wish that it came with at least one more person, the police car, and the fire engine.  Of course, these can be purchased separately and as far as that goes there are all of the different parts of Hypercity that can be purchased separately and I have a feeling many of these will be on my children’s Christmas lists this year!

Tomica Hypercity Rescue Storm Runner Jet Details:

The Tomica Hypercity Rescue Storm Runner Jet Set includes a jet, a non-motorized hero train engine, a TomiHero figure and two missiles. For ages: 4 and up. MSRP: $29.99

You can find the Tomy Tomica Hypercity Rescue Storm Runner Jet Set at various toy stores or you can order it on Amazon.
