My brother and his wife are expecting their third child this November, and last weekend they hosted their third Baby Gender Reveal Party. If you’ve never heard of these gender reveal ideas, they’re a fairly modern trend of learning the gender of your unborn child in a fun and unique way, usually surrounded by family and friends. While waiting until your child is born to discover the gender has its merits with a more traditional surprise element, it can be just as fun if not more so to be creative and share the surprise as you and your loved ones find out together. There are benefits, too, with being able to prepare ahead of time with nursery decorations, gift items, and gender-specific necessities.
Cute Gender Reveal Party Ideas
My sister-in-law found some different ideas on the internet and through friends for the gender reveal parties she has hosted. I will share some of her reveal party photos with you here as well as some of the fun reveal ideas.
There are lots of ways to make the baby gender reveal party fun and increase the excitement about the announcement of whether it will be a boy or a girl. Pink and blue decorations are a great places to start!
Blue and pink food items are also a fun way to increase the excitement at gender reveal parties. Try the simple blue and pink iced cupcakes above and have guests make a guess with the color they chose. Or the baby blue and pink cake pops below are another fun baby shower treat to serve.
I will share with you the four different Baby Gender Reveal ideas. Each party reveal has a different element of surprise. Share some of these ideas with soon-to-be parents and you’ll have a special and fun celebration to remember. Oh, and these homemade baby gender party t-shirts are too cute!
4 Of The Best Baby Gender Reveal Ideas:
1. Pink or Blue Cake Gender Reveal
Ask your doctor to put the sonogram with the baby’s gender in an envelope (and try not to peek!). Bring it to your local baker and ask them to create a cake for you. They will either use food coloring to color the cake pink or blue, or use a pink or blue filling in the center of the cake. Then they will ice the cake in a neutral color. Host a gathering with friends and family. When the cake is served, the filling will reveal the gender of your baby! A fun surprise for all, and very simple and inexpensive to put together.
2. Box of Balloons Baby Gender Reveal
At my niece’s first birthday party, my brother and sister-in-law decided it was the perfect time to reveal the gender of their second child while family and friends were already gathered. They gave a friend the concealed sonogram photo and had her fill a large box with the appropriate color balloons. Nearing the end of the party, everyone gathered around the box in the backyard and my brother and sister-in-law opened it together, to find a dozen pink balloons burst out of the top and into the evening sky. What a surprise!
3. Candy-Filled Pinata Party
The third sonogram photo was given to the neighbor, who filled a store-bought pinata with different kinds of candy that all had the same color wrappers. Ribbons were attached to the pinata, and when the ribbons were pulled, blue-wrapped candy came pouring to the ground, where cousins and nieces and nephews were gathered to collect it all. What a great way to make the surprise fun for even the smallest family members!
4. A Digital Gender Reveal
If some of your friends and family live far away, you may want to host a digital gender reveal! Make it easy for friends and family to guess the gender of your baby. GenderRevealGame.com allows expecting moms to raise money by having friends and family guess the baby’s gender with cash donations. One winner who guesses right, receives a prize! Moms have raised thousands for their little ones, or for a cause they love!
