I was recently listening to University of Virginia, English professor Lisa Russ Spaar, talking about poetry and she mentioned that you can tell poetry truly touches people because they turn to poetry to pay homage to important events in people’s lives. Poetry has a way of catching people’s hearts and expressing emotions that are hard to otherwise express. That is why poems are such a great way of sharing how you feel with your mom on mother’s day. This post is brought to you by Blue Mountain and they have some really great Happy Mother’s Day poems you might want to give your mom.

I Love You Mom- Mother’s Day Poem

This is my personal favorite of the their current Mother’s Day poems. The first verse captured my heart right away and I hope my kids can someday say that to me and mean it.

“The days play back like movie reels
and memories flood like dreams,
of how you’ve lived and how you’ve loved
to show what mothering means.

Giving without hesitation
and loving without strings,
you taught me kindness matters,
and magic’s in everything.

Your strength of heart is beautiful,
your grace, no words define,
it is said being a mom is a gift,
but the privilege was always mine.”

-L McNamara

Motherhood- A Mother’s Day Acrostic Poem

An acrostic is a poem in which the first letter of each line in the text spells out a word or a message. So this mother’s day acrostic poem is perfect for mother’s that like word puzzles, literary games, or just clever wording. My favorite line of this Motherhood Acrostic is “incredible journey” because motherhood is such an incredible ever changing gift.

aMazing patience
lOve-filled sacrifices
exTrordinary joy
Humbling responsibility
rEwarding challenge
incRedible journey
Heart felt connection
hOnered privilige
pOwerful devotion
unDying love

Her Love- Mother’s Day Poem

This free printable mother’s day poem is perfect for grandmothers. Let me remind you to cherish your grandmother while you can because mine is gone and I miss her so much! This also makes a meaningful mother’s day in heaven poem. My favorite line of this one is,
“Unwavering faith, advice, and more,
Oh so much to thank her for,
Her strength of heart will always be
Embedded in the soul of me.”

To Mother’s- Mother’s Day Poem

This poem for moms hit upon a few mother-daughter relationship points which resonated with me. When the author said, “with compassion to move mountains” I had to smile. I have found myself filled with compassion since becoming a mother. I cry during the news and in movies like never would have before! Everything just seems so much more precious now that I am a mom. It makes me appreciate my own mother and her unconditional love even more knowing everything she went through for me.
